JABAR EKSPRES – Men’s singles badminton player Anthony Sinisuka Ginting is the only remaining representative of the Red and White in the semifinals of the Singapore Open 2023, Saturday.
The second seeded player will meet Kunlavut Vitidsarn from Thailand, to fight for a ticket to the final round of the BWF Super 750 category tournament.
“Facing the semifinal match, I have to be even more prepared. The opponent will definitely be stronger. But I will focus on myself. Also recovery and discussion with the coach,” Ginting said through official PP PBSI information in Jakarta, Saturday.
Ginting assessed that his opponent from Thailand was a smart badminton player because he could process strategies well while on the field.
By looking at the potential of his opponent, Ginting is also ready if forced to compete in a match that will be the seventh meeting between the two players.
“Kunlavut is one of the smart players, not easy to turn off. He is also very patient. Of course tomorrow, each of them already has a strategy,” said Ginting.
Based on the records of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) meeting on its official website, the badminton player from Cimahi, West Java, only pocketed two wins from six meetings against Kunlavut.
Nevertheless, Ginting remains confident and feels happy to be able to perform at the Singapore Open. According to Ginting, the atmosphere in the arena was able to make him comfortable.
“I am happy to perform here. It’s like in Jakarta. All the spectators support me. Hopefully I can give my best,” concluded Ginting.
Before certainly advancing to the semifinals, Ginting first went through the quarter-finals which took place in a rubber game.
It was Chinese badminton player, Li Shi Feng, who forced Ginting to play for 62 minutes and picked the final score 21-13, 16-21, 21-12.
The victory also recorded a unique record in the Ginting vs Li meeting, by pocketing a score of 3-0 which all occurred in the quarter-finals.
