A total of 228 young basketball players from Cirebon will take part in the City Selection Mandiri 3×3 Indonesia Tournament City, consisting of the U-18 and U-23 groups in the male and female categories.
This tournament is a form of collaboration between PT Super Sport Sensation (SSS) International and PP PERBASI with sponsorship from Bank Mandiri as a talent search event for the basketball national team.
“This is the first time the Mandiri 3×3 Indonesia Tournament has been held in Cirebon. The response from the 228 registrants has been excellent. We are very ready to help them develop their careers as basketball players through the Mandiri 3×3 Indonesia Tournament. Because this tournament is also a talent scouting event for the national team in the future,” said the Director of PT SSS International Azwan Karim to Antara, quoted by JabarEkspres.com, Sunday (30/4).
Chaerul Anwar Azis, Mandiri 3×3 Indonesia Tournament Project Director, added that the competition in the Cirebon city selection will produce 12 teams from all existing categories. Every finalist and third place in the U-18 and U-23 groups (boys and girls) will advance to the provincial finals of the West Java series.
The final match will be held at GOR Saparua, Bandung City, on the 7th of May. Representatives from Cirebon will fight against representatives from Depok who have just qualified on Saturday (29/4).
“We really appreciate the enthusiasm of these young basketball players. They are enthusiastic about showing their skills during the tournament. This means our efforts to introduce 3×3 basketball to young people and get a good response. And of course, this is positive for the future of 3×3 basketball in Indonesia, ” said Chaerul.
This year’s Mandiri 3×3 Indonesia Tournament is the second edition of the tournament. Previously, it was first held in 2022 and then in Jakarta, Bandung-Bogor, Yogyakarta, Semarang, and Surabaya-Malang.
