Biawak Island, The Next International Tourism Destination

JABAR EKSPRES — Beside Komodo Island, Indonesia has also Biawak Island. This island located in Indramayu Regency, West Java. Biawak Island has a natural ecosystem that has the potential to become a leading tourist spot. Not only at the national level, but also international level.

Before being known as Biawak Island, this island used to be called Rakit Island.

This place is the habitat of hundreds of monitor lizard species with a ​​150 hectares area. 80% of this place is dominated by mangrove forests, and the remaining 20% ​​is a mix of forests and beaches.

Unfortunately, this place has not been managed properly to become a tourist spot.

This island needs improvement in the infrastructure sector, so this island could be better as a tourist destination.

According to the statement from the Head of the West Java Tourism and Culture Office, Dedi in Bandung (23/4).

“With all that potential, of course we can really accelerate the promotion to the national level, even international level.”

Dedi said so far many tourists have come to this island. Most of them came from Indramayu itself. Besides that, there are also people around Indramayu such as Cirebon and Kuningan.

Besides that, you can see the beauty of the scenery on this island if you go up to the lighthouse. Also you can enjoy the sunrise, sunset, and views of this island, of course.

This island doesn’t have any light pollution, so you can do star gazing because this place is suitable for hunting portraits of the stars.

Biawak Island has coral reefs in maintained condition, so it is suitable for diving lovers.
