The impact of pollution, especially plastic waste disposed by the community into the Musi River, endemic fish such as baung, patin, and belida have decreased in population.
Seeing the appalling condition of the river, Pertamina Plaju Refinery, which operates in the Musi River basin, is called upon to clean up the river together with the community.
“We realize the importance of maintaining the cleanliness and preservation of the Musi River as a source of community life, water source, transportation, and economy. For this reason, we increase community participation and awareness together to prevent further pollution and make efforts to preserve it,” he said.
To preserve the Musi River, in addition to cleaning the river from garbage together with the community, it also seeks to spread thousands of fish seeds of various types whose population continues to decrease.
