LPEI and Atdag Canberra Collaborate to Boost Exports to Australia

JABAR EKSPRES – Collaboration between government institutions through the Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI)/Indonesia Eximbank as a Special Mission Vehicle of the Ministry of Finance and the Trade Attaché (Atdag) Canberra of the Ministry of Trade succeeded in delivering 10 LPEI MSME fostered partners to penetrate the Australian export market.

This step was marked by a joint export release activity at the Bamboo Warehouse, Bantul, Yogyakarta, on May 31, 2023. This cooperation is built in the Joint Export Program which aims to expand market access.

In an official statement in Jakarta on Thursday, LPEI Head of Advisory Services Division Gerald Setiawan Grisanto said the collaboration is one of LPEI’s commitments in carrying out its function as a facilitator and aggregator to help MSME players overcome export barriers.

“This success is the fruit of the business meeting activities carried out by LPEI with the Canberra Trade Attaché last May to bring together business actors with potential buyers, especially in Australia,” Gerald said.

LPEI has a new export pilot program or Coaching Program for New Exporter (CPNE) since 2015 with the aim of creating new exporters. The CPNE program has been attended by 3,148 business people from various cities in Indonesia and created 179 new exporters.

Meanwhile, Canberra Trade Attaché Agung Haris Setiawan highly appreciates LPEI’s support in activities like this. He also hopes that this collaboration can continue and more local products can penetrate the Australian market.

The release of exports to Australia this time also has a special mission, namely to bring Indonesian MSME players who have gone through the curation stage to participate in the international furniture and home decoration exhibition, the Global Sourcing Expo in July.

The curation criteria applied to MSME players include being engaged in the furniture, handicraft, textile and home decoration industries, having product certificates such as the Timber Verification Legality System (SLVK), having the ability to market products, as well as specifications and needs in accordance with the requests of prospective buyers of export destination countries.
