Defending Champion Status Does not Make Ginting Burdened in Singapore

JABAR EKSPRES –Men’s singles badminton player, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, admitted that the defending champion status of the Singapore Open did not make him burdened at this year’s edition of the tournament.

The second seeded player tries to play his best when facing anyone, because every opponent has a chance to win the BWF Super 750 category tournament.

“As the defending champion, I don’t think about it. I’m just trying because all players now definitely have the same chance. I just try to perform optimally,” Ginting said in official PP PBSI information in Jakarta, Thursday (6/8).

But Ginting did not deny that he was still eager to defend his championship title. He also made careful preparations as much as possible, such as determining strategies and honing mental competitions.

“Starting from preparation from preparing game strategy patterns and mental thoughts. I try my best in every match that I will live,” he said.

Previously, Ginting escaped the first round of the Singapore Open after defeating Ng Ka Long Angus with a score of 21-15, 24-22. He is grateful to be able to finish the match with good results and not suffer injuries.

The difficulties experienced by Ginting were more on the technical aspects on the field when facing the player from Hong Kong.

He explained, the shuttlecock which was quite light made the pace quite fast and difficult to control. As much as possible, he continued to adapt to the movement of the shuttlecock by maintaining the height of the shot against the opponent.

Ginting also had a setting towards the end of the second game. He also appeared desperate and tried to be bolder in order to master the rhythm of the shots from in front of the net and secure the match point.
