JABAR EKSPRES – A number of para games athletes from Indonesia are still attacked by tomcat insects at the athletes’ guesthouse where they stay in the Morodok Techo Sports Complex area in Phnom Penh Cambodia, Monday (6/6).
“Still, there are still tomcats, a lot,” said para-wrestling athlete Riyanti in the Morodok Techo Sports Complex Athlete’s House area in Phnom Penh Cambodia.
Riyanti said she had to clean the mattress sheets first and observe that the bed was completely clean from insects to prevent unwanted things.

Previously, the 32nd SEA Games athletes who also stayed at the same guesthouse in Morodok Techo said they were hit by tomcat bites in early May. The condition did not change until the organization of the ASEAN Para Games.

Nevertheless, a team of doctors from Indonesia has anticipated by providing medicines such as ointments and drinking medicine to treat the effects caused. Tomcat bites cause itchy skin and can even get irritated like herpes.
“At the location where we stay there are indeed some tomcats or insects that have an impact on athletes. But we also prepare ointments and drinking medicines so that the treatment continues,” said one of the team of doctors, Dr. Abdullah Al Hazmy.
In addition, Hazmy also found an increase in temperature in athletes on Saturday (6/3) and Sunday (6/4). On that day the weather in Phnom Penh Cambodia was scorching hot and the body temperature of the athletes could reach 36 to 37 degrees Celsius.
He reminded the athletes to stay hydrated and monitor the color of urine. “For athletes this is very important, don’t get thirsty, don’t sweat too much, monitor the urine,” he said.
