JABAR EKSPRES – Brigjend H Hasan Basry Regional General Hospital Kandangan, Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency (HSS), South Kalimantan became the first hospital in Indonesia to become an orchid conservation park.
The declaration of Kandangan Hospital as an orchid conservation center was also part of the commemoration of World Environment Day, coupled with the inauguration of the board of Indonesian Orchid Lovers (PAI) HSS Regency by HSS Regent Achmad Fikry.
“I am happy and proud, because Kandangan Hospital is the only hospital that has an orchid conservation garden in Indonesia and the first in the country,” said Chairman of DPD PAI South Kalimantan, Arinda Dian Susanti, through a written statement in Kandangan, Sunday (6/4).

Arinda said the orchid conservation program was a collaboration between orchid lovers and the HSS Regency Government.
Arinda revealed that South Kalimantan has eight PAI DPCs and has two orchid conservation parks in Batu Benawa Pagat and Kandangan Regional Hospital.
HSS Regent Achmad Fikry said the environment is identical to green trees, now it is not just green, but requires beauty and beauty by attaching orchids to tree trunks.
Fikry hopes that the activity of attaching orchids to tree trunks in the HSS District Office and PAI administrators will preserve orchids in a sustainable manner.
Ronaldy Prana Putra, Head of the HSS District KPLH Dispera, appreciated the management of Kandangan Hospital for being willing to host the orchid preservation.
On that occasion, the local PAI board handed over a hybrid orchid from the crossing of Deundrobium Helix with Dendrobium Yanny Rahmasari by Phillip Recardo Sugiwan to the HSS Regent.
This type of orchid has been internationally registered in England on May 30, 2023, under the name Dendrobium Isnafikry Sehati, and has been entered in the Paris Van Borneo Orchid Festival competition in Barabai, and won third place in the Dendrobium Hybrid Orchid category.
