Jabar Ekspres – The Tour de France Femmes 2024 is set to take place in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on August 12, 2024, one day after the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics.
“It seemed obvious to us to try to stage the race in one of the homelands that is associated with women who love cycling. (The Netherlands) is a country with a deep cycling culture,” said Tour de France Femmes Director Marion Rousse, quoted by AFP, Tuesday.

Furthermore, Rousse added, three of the eight stages of the prestigious cycling tour for female cyclists, two of which will be raced on the same day on the streets of Rotterdam.
The first three stages will pass through the Netherlands and the race will take place from Monday (12/8) to Sunday (18/8) or ahead of the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
“We need to keep the race during the traditional French holidays, but also avoid the Olympics at the same time,” Rousse said.
“It’s an ambitious step, but we don’t want to overextend ourselves by going faster than the progress of women’s cycling itself,” she added.
Meanwhile, this is the first overseas departure for the Tour de France Femmes, while for the men’s cycling competition, the 2024 Tour de France will start in Florence, Italy, on June 29.
On the other hand, the host cyclist and four-time Giro d’Italia Donne champion, Annemiek van Vleuten, is predicted to return to compete for the title in the coming year.

“The last few seasons, the Netherlands has carved many good stories in this cycling competition. Starting from the home of these champions, we expect the competition to be a great place to celebrate. We expect their supporters to come out in full force,” Rousse said.
