Sudanese Authorities Extend Airspace Closure Until July 31st

JABAR EKSPRES – On Monday (10/7), Sudanese authorities decided to extend their airspace closure until July 31 in response to clashes that occurred between the Sudanese military and the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The Sudanese Civil Aviation Authorities announced that all flights are still prohibited from entering or exiting Sudanese airspace until July 31, except for evacuation flights and humanitarian aid missions.

Conflict between the military and the RSF has engulfed Sudan since April, leaving nearly 3,000 civilians dead and thousands more injured, according to reports from local medical teams. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) estimates that nearly three million people have been displaced by the current conflict in Sudan.

Ceasefire efforts mediated by Saudi Arabia and the United States to stop the violence in the country have failed to achieve the desired results.
