JABAR EKSPRES – The Indonesian Wushu Executive Board (PB WI) sent 15 athletes with details of eight taolu athletes and seven sanda athletes to China to undergo training camps (TC) in preparation for the XIX/2022 (2023) Asian Games in Hangzhou, China on September 23-October 8, 2023.
All athletes departed for the Bamboo Curtain Country through Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten, Tuesday. While in China, the Red and White squad will also undergo a series of trials in order to achieve the best results when competing at the 19th edition of the biggest sports party in Asia.
“The Indonesian wushu national team underwent TC for 3 months and will not return to Indonesia and immediately compete. We will take advantage of this long preparation time to be able to achieve the target at the Hangzhou Asian Games later,” said Indonesian National Team Head Coach Novita in a written statement received in Jakarta, Tuesday (6/27).
“Mr. Chairman of PB WI Airlangga Hartarto hopes that the Indonesian wushu national team can repeat the success at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games, which won 1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze,” she added.

The hope to repeat the success at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games was conveyed by the Chairman of the Indonesian Wushu Executive Board (PB WI), Airlangga Hartarto at the release ceremony in Jakarta, Monday (6/26) night.
“I hope the Indonesian wushu national team can repeat the success at the 2018 Asian Games,” said Airlangga Hartarto when motivating Edgar Xavier Marvelo and his friends.
“We hope not only from taolu numbers, but from sanda can speak at the Hangzhou Asian Games later,” said PB WI Deputy Treasurer, Gunawan Tjokro.
During the event, Airlangga appreciated the success of the Indonesian wushu national team, which was able to repeat its success 12 years ago in becoming the top medalist of the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games with 6 gold, 6 silver, 2 bronze.
