JABAR EKSPRES – The 2023 Youth and Junior Weightlifting National Championship (Kejurnas) which rolls out at the Novotel Samator Hotel, Surabaya, East Java June 6-9, 2023 focuses on competing in superior classes.
Chairman of the Development and Achievement Division of the Indonesian Weightlifting Association (PB PABSI) as well as the 2023 National Championship Technical Delegate, Hadi Wihardja said, there was a reduction in classes from last year’s edition.
“Unlike the previous organization which competed in 14 classes. This time, we are focusing on coaching in superior classes as a more significant measure of coaching achievement for weightlifting regeneration in the future,” Hadi said in a statement received in Jakarta, Monday (6/5).

The 2023 National Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship was attended by 112 lifters and 42 officials from 21 provinces. In the youth and junior categories, each competes in 10 classes.

The classes to be competed for the men’s youth category are 55kg, 61kg, 67kg, 73kg and +73kg. While for girls 45kg, 49kg, 55kg, 59kg and + 59kg. The same class also applies to the junior category.
The National Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship is rolling again following the success of producing talented and outstanding lifters at the international level.
PT Pupuk Indonesia Persero again supports PB PABSI in holding this activity. Last year, the National Youth and Junior Championship in Yogyakarta, gave birth to two lifter who became champions and were able to make neat achievements on the international stage.
They are female lifter Luluk Diana Tri Wijayana in the 49kg class who won bronze at the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games and male lifter Muhammad Husni bronze medalist in the 55kg class.
According to PB PABSI Secretary General Djoko Pramono, the mission of the National Championship this time is to provide a forum for competition for teenage and junior athletes so that the regeneration of athletes is not interrupted.
