JABAR EKSPRES – The Surakarta City Government is targeting a reduction in the stunting rate this year to create a future golden generation.
“We are committed to zero stunting,” said Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka in Solo, Wednesday.
The Surakarta City Government noted that until now the number of stunting cases has reached 1,050 cases. He said the number of cases was not an easy matter.
“There are many challenges, it’s not easy but we will pursue it,” he said.
Several efforts will be made by the Surakarta City Government, including asking people not to get married too early.
“What is clear is that we have socialized young people, don’t marry too early, we assist pregnant women, we assist children, we have also mapped it,” he said.
In addition to stunting, he said, the government’s homework is also to minimize school dropouts.
“Next year we will pursue everything, because the poverty rate has dropped, the stunting rate will also drop. That will be my homework, 1,050 stunting, yes,” he said.
Previously, the Surakarta City Office of Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control, and Family Planning (DP3APPKB) said that up to May 2023 there had been 29 cases of early marriage dispensation applications.
On average, those who applied for marriage dispensation in the elementary school education range totaled 6 people, junior high school 10 people, and high school 13 people with an age range of 13-18 years.*
