In addition to providing education related to the stages of election implementation, the Smart Voting Movement is also expected to increase voter participation rates and minimize abstention.

He added that what needs to be considered is people who are not categorized as novice voters but have the right to vote, including marginalized groups whose participation needs to be encouraged.

“The aims and objectives are to provide education and literacy to all levels of society, including novice voters and marginalized groups about the stages of elections and their regulations. And encourage the realization of quality elections,” he said.

Agus said similar activities were also carried out simultaneously in 69 RRI work units throughout Indonesia.

“God willing, we will carry out similar activities again in August,” he said.

On the same occasion, Regional Secretary of Batam City Jefridin Hamid said that in order to succeed the 2024 General Election, the Batam City Government made efforts to pick up the ball related to recording e-KTP for 17-year-old children who were included in the category of novice voters.

“If the ID card is automatic, in accordance with the provisions, especially those who are 17 years old high school, we automatically pick up the ball. And that is their right, because without KTP we cannot vote,” said Jefridin.
