2023 SEA Games Medalists Join Nika Master Swimming Championship

JABAR EKSPRES – The 2023 SEA Games medalists in Cambodia are ready to enliven the first edition of the Nika Masters Swimming Championship which rolls out at the 25m Nika Swimming Pool, Bintaro, Jakarta, Sunday (5/28).

Names such as I Gede Siman Sudartawa who won gold in the men’s 50m backstroke, and bronze medalists in the men’s 4x100m relay number Joe Aditya WIjaya Kurniawan, Erick Ahmad Fathoni, and Muhammad Dwiky Raharyo are also confirmed to be present in the championship.

“We invited all medalists at the SEA Games such as Siman Sudartawa, Joe Aditya, Erick Ahmad Fathoni, Angel Gabriel Yus, Dwiki Raharjo and others to conduct an exhibition,” said Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Swimming Association (PB PRSI), Harlin E. Rahardjo, in a press conference at the PB PRSI Office, Wisma Bakrie, Kuningan, Jakarta, Thursday (5/25).

The master swimming championship titled 1st Nika Master Swimming Championship 2023 was attended by 150 swimmers aged 25 to 84 years.

“PB PRSI under the management of Anindya Bakrie is very active in popularizing master swimming. It is hoped that with the 1st NIKA Masters Swimming in this 25-meter pool, the population of master swimming will increase. This Nika pool can be an example for regions to build 25-meter pools in various regions to become a place for massaging and fostering swimming sports,” said Harlin.

Chairman of the 1st NIKA Masters Swimming 2023 Committee, Rara Nastiti said, there were 150 participants who would compete, and 10 of them were over 80 years old. For example Kartini Sapardjiman from the women’s sector who is 83 years old and also Rahardjo from the men’s section is also 83 years old.

“This is a record in itself, many swimmers over the age of 80. This means that this event will be interesting, because the pool is 25 meters so there are many enthusiasts. The competition will start from 08.00-17.00 WIB,” said Rara.
