Ministry of Finance Allocates Rp31.79 Billion for Port Development

JABAR EKSPRES – The Ministry of Finance has disbursed a budget of Rp31.79 billion for the development of Seba Port to improve access to sea transportation in Sabu Raijua Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, by 2023.

“The Seba Port improvement budget with a project contract value of Rp31.79 billion has begun to be disbursed in stages,” said Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Treasury of the NTT Province of the Ministry of Finance, Chess Ariyanto Widodo, in Kupang, Tuesday (5/2).

He said this was related to the performance of the State Budget (APBN) to support marine infrastructure development in NTT by 2023.

Chess said the distribution of the state budget for the rehabilitation of Seba Port in the first quarter amounted to 20 percent of the project contract value.

He said that the port development will provide strategic benefits such as supporting or improving operational activities at the port such as the distribution of goods for community needs.

In addition, it supports sea transportation passenger transportation to and from the Sabu Raijua Regency area.

“Access to goods and people by sea will be smoother so that it is expected to encourage economic growth in Sabu Raijua,” he said.

Furthermore, Chess said, the construction of Seba Port, which is part of a national strategic project, proves the role of the state budget as a lever for regional economic growth.

Therefore, he said, to ensure the smooth running of the multi-year project, it is necessary to support various elements of society to oversee the implementation of the APBN.

“Every value of the APBN disbursed is shared property so it needs to be guarded together as well to ensure the results can provide optimal benefits for the welfare of the community,” he said.
