“We should be grateful that the evacuation process of Indonesian citizens can be carried out well in the midst of many countries that are still trying to evacuate their citizens from Sudan,” Retno said.
“On this occasion, I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to the Governments of Egypt and the United Arab Emirates who have helped evacuate several Indonesian citizens out of Sudan,” she continued.
The situation in Sudan has been volatile since a military conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF) erupted on April 15, 2023.
The conflict threatened the security situation in Sudan so that the Indonesian Embassy in Khartoum set Alert II status on April 16, 2023.
