Provincial Government Repatriates Six Sudanese Students from Bengkulu

JABAR EKSPRES — The Bengkulu Provincial Government has facilitated the repatriation of six students studying in Sudan due to the armed conflict between the Sudanese military and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the region.

“We facilitated everything, upon arrival in the country, they were put up in a mess owned by Bengkulu Province in Utan Kayu Jakarta. Then until today they were returned to Bengkulu and we welcomed them,” said Bengkulu Provincial Secretary, Hamka Sabri, at Fatmawati Soekarno Airport Bengkulu, Sunday (30/4).

He explained that the six students arrived in Bengkulu by Lion Air plane.

The Bengkulu Provincial Government, said Hamka Sabri, facilitated the students to return home until they arrived at their respective homes.

The parent of one of the students, Widhah, explained that she was very grateful that her child could return to Bengkulu in a safe condition.

“Alhamdulillah, we are very grateful that our son has returned to Bengkulu. While in Sudan, we were able to communicate with them, but we were worried because they were in a conflict zone,” she said.

Based on information, there are 14 students in Sudan from Bengkulu Province, nine of whom have arrived in Indonesia, one student has just arrived in Indonesia and four other students are in the process of departing from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Then for students who returned to Bengkulu on Sunday there were six people, while three other students had not been flown to Bengkulu because one student was sick and two other students accompanied him.

The six students who were sent home were Widhah Rahma Serepa, Heni Agustiya, Tanti Nur Fadhilah Nasution, Siska Rahmadini, Sindy Klaudia Permata Sari and Adelia Pratiwi.

As for the three students who have not returned to Bengkulu due to illness, they are April Setiawan, Toni Suhendra and M. Afalah.

Previously, the armed conflict between the Sudanese military and RSF paramilitaries has been going on since April 15. The situation threatened the security conditions in Sudan, so the Indonesian Embassy in Khartoum set the Alert II status on April 16, 2023.
