Central Java Police Gegana Team Conducts Crime Scene of Firecracker Powder Explosion

JABAR EKSPRES — The Central Java Police’s Gegana team processed the scene of an explosion suspected to be the source of powder used to make firecrackers in Kedungmalang Village, Kedung Subdistrict, Jepara Regency, Monday (10/4).

A number of Gegana teams examined the debris suspected of being the aftermath of the explosion, which was located behind the building of SD Negeri 1 Kedung. The explosion also injured two children and damaged a number of buildings.

“The presence of the Gegana team is to confirm the materials used to make the firecracker powder,” said Jepara Police Chief, AKBP Warsono.

In addition, he said, accompanied by Deputy Chief of Police, Kompol Berry, the Polda Gegana team also confiscated fragments from the rest of the explosion.

The evidence secured included a bucket where the powder was stored, a cloth covering the bucket, the rest of the powder at the owner’s house, and the tools used for the compounding process.

The police also confiscated packs used to purchase various raw materials purchased online and the remains of other supporting materials.

Later, he said, there will be forensic laboratory tests to confirm the materials used to make firecrackers.

Meanwhile, the explosion radius of 1 kilogram of firecracker powder, which had just finished mixing, was estimated to reach 1 kilometer.

As a result, a number of houses in the vicinity were damaged, both in the broken roof tiles and the glass windows and doors that were also damaged.

Among the injured were two children who were looking for a used bucket to use as a traditional musical instrument or tongtek.

“It is suspected that one of the children accidentally kicked the bucket in which there was firecracker powder, causing the explosion,” he said.
