FIFA Dare Not To Punish Israel, Trapped In Double Standards

The use of tear gas by security forces at stadiums is prohibited under FIFA rules. Rajoub said that the Israeli attack was intended to harm the lives of football players and fans.

“I think they are neo-Nazis. Targeting football players and fans, and firing tear gas on pitches and stadiums, is a stain on the face of the (Israeli) occupation,” Rajoub said.

The PFA will lodge a complaint with FIFA about the incident and communicate the matter with football federations in Asia and around the world “to end terrorism against sport”.

Many highlighted Israel’s double standards in the ruling. It is known that FIFA is still blocking the participation of the Russian national team in international agendas on the basis of the country’s attack on Ukraine.

FIFA also expelled South Africa from membership in the 1970s over the country’s apartheid policies. In addition to frequent attacks as occupiers and also implementing apartheid policies, Israeli forces have repeatedly carried out acts that hurt Palestinian football and footballers.

Not long ago, FIFA also revoked Indonesia’s status as the host for the 2023 U-20 World Cup. They did not specify the reasons, but this firm decision was allegedly due to a wave of rejection of Israel’s arrival.

However, FIFA has not even imposed sanctions for the atrocities that Israel has ever done. FIFA has never dared to punish Israel and apply double standards to punish a group.
