JABAR EKSPRES – Who doesn’t know Kajol, a figure who made it big thanks to her work in the film industry. Since her debut, she has always given mesmerizing acting performances.
Some of her films include Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Fanaa, and Gupt. She also appeared in the web series Trial which was recently released on streaming platforms. With that, Kajol is busy with various promotional activities. In one of her interviews, she revealed some facts about herself.
As reported by The Indian Express on Sunday, July 23, 2023, her father Shomu Mukherjee almost named her after a famous car brand, Mercedes!
It started when Kajol was asked if her father Shomu Mukherjee really wanted to name his son Mercedes. However, his suggestion was immediately rejected by his wife.
“Yes he did, he tried very hard but my mom just looked at him and said, ‘No!” said Kajol.

Kajol then shared how her parents came up with her name. Apparently, Kajol’s name was inspired by her grandmother.
“Actually, strangely, it was written in her mother’s (Shomu Mukherjee) diary. So my grandmother had a diary where she wrote all her children’s names,” said the mother of two.
“She wrote all the names of her sons and daughters in it and she wrote down whatever she thought would be their children’s names and she used to call my father ‘Kajol da’. So, that’s how I was named Kajol,” she added.
For information, Kajol’s father Shomu Mukherjee passed away in 2008 after a heart attack.
Kajol says that though she had an unusual relationship with her mother, she was very close to her father and they loved each other.
“My father couldn’t see any of my faults and I couldn’t see any of his faults, so I think we loved each other blindly, constantly,” says Kajol.
