JABAR EKSPRES – Muhammad Taufik Zoelkifli, a member of Commission B of the DKI Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), assessed that the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) is suitable for holding the U-17 World Cup.
“Indeed, it is very modern, there are sensor facilities according to FIFA standards, there is a development consultant so I think it is ready,” Zoelkifli was quoted by JabarEkspres.com from Antara News, Friday (6/30).
However, he admitted that there are several things that must be improved, such as access to JIS and other supporting facilities.
According to the man who is familiar with MTZ, the Regional-Owned Enterprise (BUMD) PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) must provide the best facilities because this event provides an opportunity for Indonesia to appear in the eyes of the world.
Football is also considered a sport that is in demand by all groups so it is certain that many residents will come to watch the event.

In addition, this event is also considered a good opportunity to make the most of government-owned facilities.
MTZ said this because he saw many sports facilities that ended up abandoned because they were never used by the community.
“There is a velodrome and Jakarta International Equestrian which was left after the Sea Games and until now it has not been maximally utilized,” he said.
He hopes that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and Jakpro can provide the best for this international event.
Previously, on Friday (23/6), the International Football Federation (Federation Internationale de Football Association / FIFA) officially appointed Indonesia as the host of the U-17 World Cup which will be attended by 24 countries.
The event was originally to be held in Peru in 2021.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the U-17 World Cup to be shifted to 2023 and then Peru failed to meet infrastructure readiness after four years of being declared the host.
