Hajj Smart Card Makes it Easier for Pilgrims to Worship

JABAR EKSPRES – The Hajj smart card makes it easier for pilgrims to perform their worship because it can be connected to various services, said Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Abdul Aziz Almodhame.

“The Hajj smart card is connected to all services provided to pilgrims. Pilgrims can enter camps or hotels and can use transportation to visit holy sites,” Almodhame told reporters in Makkah on Saturday (6/25).

He said the card can also be used to pay at points of sale and automated teller machines (ATMs).

The card, he added, guides pilgrims who get lost, as well as controls entry to camps and the movement of pilgrims.

All details about the pilgrims are also included in the Hajj smart card, such as their registration number, the exact location of their accommodation, their mobile phone number, and their guide’s ID number.

Hajj smart cards are also used to reduce the number of illegal hajj, he said.

Saudi Arabia has so far welcomed more than 1.6 million pilgrims during this year’s hajj season, according to the General Directorate of Passports.

The number is expected to further grow to around 2.6 million until the start of the peak hajj pilgrimage on June 27.

The Saudi Arabian government decided that the wuquf at Arafat on 9 Dhul Hijja 1444 AH will be on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
