JABAR EKSPRES – The Indonesian Embassy in Beijing continues to provide consular services to Indonesian citizens during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday on Thursday and Friday this week which is a public holiday in China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
“Even today we are also holding a meeting with ASEAN journalists in China,” said Coordinator of the Social and Cultural Information Function at the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing, Dewi Avilia, Thursday.
Hotline consular services are also provided by the Indonesian Consulate General in Shanghai, the Indonesian Consulate General in Guangzhou, and the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong, during the holiday known as Duanwu Jie.
The four representatives of the Indonesian government in China and Hong Kong will reopen as usual next Monday.
All offices and schools in China are also closed during the holiday known among Chinese Indonesians as Peh Cun.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry office, in a written statement, also announced the elimination of routine press briefings during Thursday and Friday this week, to commemorate the holiday which is usually enlivened by dragon boat racing and eating bakcang.
Since Wednesday afternoon, traffic in Beijing has been jammed with four-wheeled vehicles leaving the Chinese capital.
Meanwhile, some tourists also came to Sanya in Hainan Province, which is a tropical island on the southern tip of China.
