JABAR EKSPRES – French stocks ended in the red on Monday local time (6/19/2023), reversing losses from sharp gains late last week, with the benchmark CAC 40 index on the Paris Stock Exchange falling 1.01 percent or 74.60 points to settle at 7,314.05 points.
The CAC 40 index jumped 1.34 percent or 97.74 points to 7,388.65 points on Friday (6/16/2023), after dropping 0.51 percent or 37.62 points to 7,290.91 points on Thursday (6/15/2023), and gained 0.52 percent or 37.73 points to 7,328.53 points on Wednesday (6/14/2023).
Of the 40 stocks of selected large companies that are components of the CAC 40 index, only eight stocks made gains, while 32 other stocks suffered losses.
Vinci SA, a French multinational construction and concession company suffered the biggest loss (top loser) among the leading stocks or blue chips, with its share price falling 4.00 percent.
Followed by shares of French multinational that supplies industrial gases and services to various industries including medical, chemical and electronics manufacturing Air Liquide SA lost 3.83 percent; and French multinational payment and transactional services company Worldline SA slipped 2.61 percent.
Meanwhile, Safran SA, a company that supplies French multinational aerospace and defense systems and equipment lifted 1.74 percent, becoming the top gainer among the leading stocks.
Followed by shares of financial services company that attracts deposits and offers commercial, retail and investment banking services Societe Generale SA increased 0.47 percent; and French multinational financial services holding company and universal bank BNP Paribas SA gained 0.42 percent.
