JABAR EKSPRES – Vice President, Ma’ruf Amin, has encouraged the construction of the Sukarno Memorial Library near the grave of prominent hadith expert Imam Bukhari in Uzbekistan.
This was conveyed during an honorary visit to Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Nigmatovich Aripov at the Uzbek Cabinet of Ministers Building in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Tuesday (6/13).
“I also said earlier that a kind of Sukarno Memorial Library should be built at the grave site (of Imam Bukhari),” Ma’ruf said in a statement to reporters.
He proposed that the Sukarno Memorial Library be built near Imam Bukhari’s tomb because the hadith expert’s tomb was discovered thanks to Sukarno’s services in the Soviet Union era.

At that time Uzbekistan was still part of the Soviet Union and Bung Karno asked Soviet Union leader Nikita Krushchev to look for Imam Bukhari’s tomb which was believed to be in the Soviet Union.
After searching, the tomb was finally found in the Samarkand region, which is now one of the cities in Uzbekistan, after the Soviet Union broke up.
The vice president said Bung Karno also encouraged Imam Bukhari’s tomb to be built luxuriously as a place of pilgrimage.
He hopes that the Sukarno Memorial Library can be built there to commemorate Bung Karno’s services as a proponent of the construction of Imam Bukhari’s tomb.
“Hopefully that can be done,” he said.
According to Ma’ruf, the construction of the Sukarno Memorial Library has been discussed by the tourism ministers of the two countries.
“Earlier I conveyed it to the Prime Minister (Abdulla) and I hope it can be realized. Later we will continue so that it is formed and it is important, historical and also pride for us, but also pride for them (Uzbekistan),” he said.
