JABAR EKSPRES – A total of 850 kg of waste was collected in the Penyu Bay Beach Clean-Up Action in Cilacap Regency, Central Java Province, Friday morning.

More than 200 people including officials of regional apparatus organizations, students, environmentalists, and the fishing community of Penyu Bay Beach participated in the environmental action, which was organized by PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk Cilacap Plant (Semen Indonesia Group) together with the Cilacap Regency Environmental Office.

Head of the Cilacap Regency Environment Office Sri Murniyati appreciated all parties involved in the Penyu Bay Beach Clean-Up Action in commemoration of World Environment Day 2023.

“We must maintain this togetherness. The momentum of World Environment Day 2023 is one of the moments where we foster togetherness and at the same time keep the environment comfortable and clean,” she said.

Public Relations Manager of PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk Dewi Hestyani said that some of the waste collected in the cleanup of Penyu Bay Beach, which still has economic value, will be handed over to the waste bank.

“The rest will be sent to the TPST (Integrated Waste Disposal Site) in Tritih Lor Village, Jeruklegi District, to be processed into RDF (Refuse-Derived Fuel),” she said.

He also said that PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk on Monday (5/6) had organized the Waste Alms Action in commemoration of World Environment Day 2023.

In this activity, according to him, company employees sorted waste from homes and work areas so that 98 kg of plastic waste, 774 kg of cardboard, 36 kg of glass bottles, 13 kg of iron, and nine liters of used cooking oil were collected.

“All the collected waste was donated to three waste banks,” said Dewi.

Meanwhile, the head of the “Pandanarang” Fishermen Group, Tukimin (42), was grateful that the cleanup was held at Teluk Penyu Beach.

“This is an honor for us as residents who use Teluk Penyu Beach on a daily basis. The cleanliness of the beach is our shared responsibility and obligation to keep it comfortable, clean and beautiful,” he said.
