BMKG: Beware of Six-meter High Waves in Southern Bali Waters

JABAR EKSPRES – The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Region III Denpasar has asked the public to be aware of the potential for high waves of up to six meters in the southern waters of Bali until June 11, 2023.

“Including the category of very high waves,” said Head of BMKG Region III Denpasar Cahyo Nugroho in Denpasar, Thursday.

The southern waters of Bali are directly adjacent to the Indian Ocean which is one of the fishing routes for fishermen.

BMKG has issued an early warning of the potential for high sea waves in the Bali Sea, Bali Strait, Badung Strait, Lombok Strait and the Indian Ocean south of Bali.

The majority of a number of waters in Bali also have the potential to have high waves of up to four meters, including in the Bali Strait.

The Bali Strait is the Bali-Java crossing route through Gilimanuk Port, Jembrana Regency – Ketapang Port in Banyuwangi Regency, East Java.

The Badung Strait and the southern Lombok Strait also have the potential to have the same height of up to four meters.

Badung Strait is an area that is heavily traveled by crossing ships from Sanur Denpasar to Nusa Penida Island in Klungkung Regency, marine tourism and crossing ships heading to a number of cities in Eastern Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the Lombok Strait is a crossing route from Padangbai Port, Karangasem Regency to Lembar Port, Lombok, NTB.

There is also an average wind speed in a number of waters up to 20 knots or 37 kilometers per hour blowing from the east-southeast.

Meanwhile, the height of sea waves in the Nusa Dua tourist area in Badung Regency is also expected to reach up to three meters.

While in the tourist areas of Kuta, Badung Regency and Tanah Lot in Tabanan Regency, the waves are also expected to reach up to 2.5 meters.
