JABAR EKSPRES – Chelsea FC defenders, Reece James and Ben Chilwell, admitted that they could not wait to be trained by new coach Mauricio Pochettino.
Pochettino was only appointed Chelsea as the new coach on May 29. The March 2, 1972-born coach was given a two-year contract to replace Frank Lampard, who previously served as interim coach.
“I can’t wait to work with him (Pochettino). Everyone says he is a great manager and hopefully next season we can find our stride early and be a good, strong team as we know it,” James said as reported by Chelsea’s official website, Tuesday (6/7).
Pochettino is not the first time coaching an English Premier League (EPL) or Premier League club because he has coached Southampton 1,5 years and Tottenham Hotspur 5,5 years.

Meanwhile, before being bound by a contract with the Blues, the last time Pochettino coached a club was Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). With PSG, the Argentine coach presented three titles, namely the French League 1 (2021/2022), French Cup (2020/2021), and French Super Cup (2020/2021).
In the 2022/2023 season, Chelsea’s performance was far from expectations. With a series of star players brought in, The club based at Stamford Bridge was unable to do much and only finished in 12th place with 44 points, the result of 11 victory, 11 draw, and 16 defeat.
The two English defenders hope that the arrival of a head coach who has a lot of experience will be able to bring his team better next season.
“The goal is to get back to where we know we should be,” said Chilwell.
“We have a big pre-season coming up which we are all looking forward to, we have a new manager coming in and it’s up to us as players to go out there and make sure next season is good for the club,” continued the 26-year-old left-back.
