Iran Says US Public Opinion on Israel Has Changed

JABAR EKSPRES —Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, highlighted a major shift in public opinion in the United States toward the Israeli regime, saying the American people have the right to question their country’s support for an occupation regime that harms its own interests.

Through social media on Sunday (30/4), Kanaani revealed that recent polls show there is a major shift in public opinion across the US towards the “apartheid nature of the Zionist regime.”

He also alluded to a University of Maryland poll of Americans’ views on Israel that showed 20 percent of Republicans and 44 percent of Democrats calling the Israeli regime racist, not unlike apartheid.

“The poll also showed that support for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement has increased,” Kanaani said.

Kanaani believes the poll results on the nature and existence of the Israeli regime would be even more shocking if there was free speech on Israel’s stance, the US was freed from the control of the Zionist lobby, and there was wider and more independent polling.

Kanaani also said both ordinary people and elites in the US have a right to seek answers to this issue because the US administration has sacrificed the interests of its people and some of its so-called “allies” for the benefit of “the apartheid, undemocratic and rotten colonial Zionist regime.”
