He said that a week before Eid, many prospective visitors booked a vacation to Bintan Nemo’s Kelong Apung.

He predicts that visitors will start to be crowded on vacation on H+3 Eid, which is dominated by domestic tourists, such as Batam, Tanjungpinang or Bintan residents themselves who have long migrated outside the area, then returned to their hometowns on Eid al-Fitr.

“Because of the Eid atmosphere, local tourists are more dominant. On normal days, quite a lot of foreign tourists come to enjoy the charm of Bintan’s marine nature,” he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Bintan Tourism and Culture Office, Arif Sumarsono, said that currently more than 30 fishermen in the area utilize Kelong Apung as a tourist attraction.

Kelong apung is a fishing tool used by traditional fishermen for generations that is built above the sea from the shoreline. The Kelong Apung is unique because it has a floor made of planks and wood, equipped with a kitchen and rooms.
