The article that is in the spotlight of foreign tourists is the article on adultery or conjugal relations outside of marriage.

For example, Australian Tourists have to think several times about going on holiday to Bali. Because they are afraid of being caught in the article.

Indeed, the Criminal Code itself is a law that is quite controversial and some say that there are several articles in the Criminal Code that are not very meaningful.

One of the controversies is the article that criminalizes sex outside of marriage.

However, the Bali Provincial Government told tourists not to worry about this latest Criminal Code article as reported by CNN Indonesia.

“Don’t worry about coming to Bali, because right now, as usual, tourists who come, like now, don’t need to be afraid,” said the Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, Tjok Bagus Pemayun.

He explained that the criminal article regarding sex outside of marriage can only be applied if someone makes a report (the one reporting is the legal husband or wife).

Previously, the Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was worried about the situation of Australian tourists who were in Bali being subject to criminal penalties.

Not only Australia, but the United States Ambassador to Indonesia Sung Y Kim also opened his voice about the ratification of the Draft Criminal Code.

He thinks that the ratification of the Draft Criminal Code could hurt investment in Indonesia.
