JABAR EKSPRES – Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono apologized to the public regarding traffic jams on a number of roads due to traffic diversions during the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta.
“The summit is for two days, 5 to 6. First, we apologize if yesterday during the summit some residents or many motorists were inconvenienced,” said Heru at City Hall, Central Jakarta, Thursday (9/7).
In addition, Heru said, his party had issued a circular containing an appeal to work from home (WFH). Traffic engineering routes have also been socialized before the ASEAN Summit.

“But I have made a circular letter, I have appealed. Yes, yesterday it should have been partly WFH,” he said.
He said the international meeting was an activity that had to be succeeded. Moreover, there is no certainty of the time to host again in the future.
“But once again yes, it is our celebration which maybe in ten years will come back to us again, so we must support it. I thank the community,” Heru said.
The traffic volume from 49 points monitored using monitoring cameras during the 43rd ASEAN Summit in DKI Jakarta on September 5, 2023 decreased by 2.85 percent.
“According to the Transportation Agency’s traffic counting sensor, the traffic volume on September 5, 2023 was recorded at 6,699,684 vehicles per day,” Jakarta Transportation Agency Head Syafrin Liputo said when confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday.
The figure decreased by 2.85 percent or 196,296 vehicles when compared to August 8, 2023 with a traffic volume of 6,895,980 vehicles per day.
Syafrin also appreciated residents and businesses for their support so that the traffic flow during the ASEAN Summit in Jakarta ran smoothly.
The support is in the form of changes in the activity patterns of companies and institutions to the compliance of road users in adjusting the traffic engineering set during the ASEAN Summit.
