JABAR EKSPRES – Sergio Ramos has officially returned to his boyhood club Sevilla after leaving the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan-based club 18 years ago when he was bought by Real Madrid in August 2005.
Ramos arrives at Sevilla on a free transfer on a one-year contract after his contract at previous club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) expired on July 1 and was not renewed.
“Sevilla FC have reached an agreement for the signing of Sergio Ramos. The academy graduate returns to the club 18 years after he signed for Real Madrid in 2005, at the age of 19,” read the club’s official announcement on Monday (9/5).
Born in Camas, a few kilometers from Sevilla city center, on March 30, 1986, Ramos joined the academy of the club nicknamed Los Nervionenses at the age of 7, and rose through the ranks before making his reserve team debut at the age of 16, in the 2002/2003 season.

The following season, Sevilla coach Joaquin Caparros gave the former Real Madrid captain his first-team debut on February 1, 2004 in the LALIGA, replacing Paco Gallardo in a 0-1 defeat away to Deportivo La Coruna.
Ramos went on to make seven appearances that season, and quickly became a mainstay in the first eleven. In the 2004/2005 season, Ramos made 41 appearances in all competitions and scored 3 goals.
The now 37-year-old then joined Real Madrid ahead of the close of the 2005/2006 transfer season. His career at the Spanish capital club was very successful where in his first season he made 46 appearances in all competitions with a record 6 goals.
In total, strengthening El Real for 16 years, Ramos collected 671 appearances in all competitions with 40 goals and 4 assists, and won 22 trophies including five LALIGA titles and four Champions Leagues.
Ramos’ career at Los Blancos ended in the summer of 2021 where he continued his adventure at French giants PSG who made a splash by signing him along with Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, Georginio Wijnaldum and Lionel Messi.
