Jabar Ekspres – The Ministry of Industry will again hold the Indonesia Halal Industry Awards (IHYA) 2023 which is expected to spur the halal industry ecosystem to realize Indonesia’s vision as the world’s leading halal producer.
Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita assessed that Indonesia should be the host of halal products in its own country while filling the world market, even becoming a major player in the international arena as a producer of halal products.
“Through the implementation of the Indonesia Halal Industry Awards (IHYA) 2023, it is hoped that the halal industry ecosystem can be further encouraged to collaborate in realizing Indonesia’s vision as the World’s Leading Halal Producer,” he said at the IHYA 2023 Kick Off in Jakarta, Thursday.

The Minister of Industry revealed that the national economic growth of 5.03 percent in the first quarter of 2023 was supported by the processing industry sector by 0.92 percent, the largest among other sectors.
The halal industry is also part of the processing industry which focuses on increasing value added and is expected to be one of the drivers of the national economy.
“We can say that in the future, national economic growth will be dominated by sharia economic growth through the growth of the halal industry,” added the Minister of Industry.
As a country with the largest Muslim population in the world, which amounted to 241.7 million in 2022 or 87 percent of the total 277.75 million people, Indonesia is currently the highest consumer of halal products in the world, with projected consumption reaching 281.6 billion US dollars in 2025.
The Minister of Industry said IHYA 2023 was held with three objectives, namely providing education to business actors about the magnitude of the halal industry market potential, appreciating all parties who have supported the development of the halal industry and providing support to halal industry players to always assist them.
