International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach said he was “very, very confident” that Paris would be ready in time.
“We have seen the work of the organizing committee here in Paris… and we know (Estanguet) can count on the support of the French president, the regional authorities, the city of Paris and all of that gives us confidence that this will be an extraordinary Olympics,” Bach said.
The opening ceremony will be held on the Seine, the first time in the history of the Summer Olympics that it will take place outside a stadium.
