On Wagner, Zelenskyy Says Russia Can Pay for its Crimes

JABAR EKSPRES –  Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday said that Russia will be repaid for the crimes it committed in Ukraine.

He said this in response to the recent dispute between the Russian government and the Wagner paramilitary group.

“Whoever chooses the path of evil can destroy himself. Sending troops to destroy the lives of other countries, and not being able to stop those who flee and betray when life fights back,” he said in a statement on Telegram.

Zelenskyy accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of “degrading the people” and throwing hundreds of thousands of them into the war in Ukraine.

“In the end (Putin) barricaded himself in the Moscow region from the people he himself armed,” he said.

Zelenskyy also said that Russia has been playing propaganda to “cover up the weakness and stupidity of its government”.

However, Moscow is now unable to hide its lies over the current widespread chaos, he said.

“The longer Russia keeps its troops and mercenaries on our soil, the more chaos, pain and problems it will experience for itself later,” Zelenskyy added.

Earlier, Putin accused Wagner’s leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, of “treason” after his paramilitary forces in Ukraine crossed into the Russian city of Rostov on Saturday morning local time.

Tensions between Moscow and the paramilitary group escalated after Prigozhin accused Russian forces of attacking his soldiers. Russia denied the allegations and ordered Prigozhin’s arrest.

Prigozhin has repeatedly accused Moscow of not supplying adequate weapons to the paramilitary group, which has been fighting alongside the Russian army in Ukraine.
