JABAR EKSPRES – Michelle Yeoh sets a history mark to become the first Asian actress to win an Oscar for Best Actress after 40 years of acting.
Michelle Yeoh received her first Oscar from her acting in ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’, who played as Evelyn Wang.
She gave a touching speech at the award’s show after receiving an Oscar, saying that this victory is a history that will be remembered all her life. Michelle Yeoh also gave messages to children, especially Asian descent like herself, that they are allowed to keep dreaming and create what to become ambition.
“For all the boys and the girls that looks like me and watching this tonight, this is a lighthouse of hope and possibilities,” she said on Sunday (12/3) night Los Angeles time, quoted from LA Times.
She added that this win is a proof that a dream can come true. Not only dream, she also adds the issue on age of creativity. Yeoh setting this mark in history, as someone who won Best Actress at 60 years old, is a proof that anyone of any ages can complete their dreams.
Besides Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan won Best Supporting Actor, and Jamie Lee Curtis won Best Supporting Actress. As the movie itself wins the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE
The movie was written and directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, along with production by Anthony, Joe Russo, and Jonathan Wang.
The story tells about Evelyn Wang, a Chinese-American immigrant who needs to be connected with a parallel universe from herself to prevent a strong being that destroys the multiverse.
Everything Everywhere All At Once premiered at South by Southwest on March 11th 2022, and released for limited across United States on March 25th 2022, before released globally by A24 on April 8th.
