Kampung Coklat in Blitar Burned to Scorch

JABAR EKSPRES – The tourist spot of Kampung Coklat located in Plosorejo Village, Kademangan District, Blitar Regency caught fire on Wednesday (26/4) around 01.31 WIB.

The smoldering fire was finally extinguished by five units of fire engines for three hours.

The incident is thought to have started from an oven in the cooking class area in Kampung Coklat, so that the fire eventually grew and spread throughout the area.

“Allegedly it was from an oven that was emitting smoke. The guard actually noticed the fire incident, but because it was at night the door was locked, so it couldn’t be opened. Residents actually also wanted to help,” said Head of Public Relations of the Blitar Police, Iptu Udiyono via Antara, quoted by JabarEkspres.com, Wednesday (26/4).

Losses are estimated to reach up to IDR 500 million in the form of materials. There were no reports of any injuries or fatalities.

“Maybe 5 percent of the total area in Kampung Coklat. That is a production area, 5 percent of the entire existing area. Thank God there were no fatalities, no injuries. Just the building, the loss was around Rp. 500 million,” said Blitar Kampung Coklat Tourism Owner, Kholid Mustafa.

The fire incident only occurred in the production area. So that tourist attractions are still open and operating as usual. Visitors can still come to other points to travel for the 2023 Eid holiday.

The area that became the focus of the fire has been temporarily closed and will soon be cleaned and restored.
