JABAR EKSPRES – Bhabinkamtibmas officers of Banjarbaru Utara Police Station along with village officials and local residents secured a crocodile that was roaming in Guntung Jingah River, Banjarbaru City, South Kalimantan on Saturday (10/6) night.
“The crocodile has been secured by officers, there are no casualties,” said North Banjarbaru Police Chief Kompol Yopie Andri Haryono when confirmed in Banjarmasin on Sunday.
He said Bhabinkamtibmas personnel together with local residents evacuated the crocodile at night after reports of crocodiles roaming during the day and evening.
Yopie said the discovery of the reptile began with a report from a local resident who was fishing near the river.
“After the report, the local urban village along with officers and residents searched for the crocodile,” he said.
He said that after all parties worked together along the river, the reptile was finally found and immediately secured by his party.

He said the crocodile was about one meter long and not too big and did not cause excessive danger.
Furthermore, although the reptile is not large, he urged local residents to remain cautious.
Yopie asked residents not to move around the river for a while to avoid any danger.
He said the appearance of the crocodile in the river did not cause too much trouble because it could still be handled by officers and local residents.
He said the crocodile would be handed over by the officers to the authorities, namely the South Kalimantan BKSDA, for further action regarding the origin of the crocodile.
