JABAR EKSPRES – Artificial intelligence (AI) technology can be utilized to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of fundraising by philanthropic organizations in Indonesia.
AI can help philanthropic institutions’ fundraising process as it can identify the preferences and interests of their potential donors and help personalize messages and create content that is relevant and engaging to donors.
CEO of Resolve Asia and professional fundraising practitioner, Maitra Widiantini, in a press release received in Jakarta on Thursday (6/8), said the optimization of AI technology in fundraising includes three things.
First, the development and sharpening of fundraising strategies. Maitra referred to her experience when strategizing and expanding the target market using BARD, an AI chatbot. Maitra obtained feedback on what strategies needed to be developed, enriching and complementing the basic concepts already owned.

“Institutions apply data analysis tools to visualize donor data, fundraising trends, and potential donor preferences in designing smarter and more attractive strategies,” Maitra said.
Second, AI enables increased donations or enlarged funding opportunities through content enrichment, donor stewardship, and donation prediction and analysis.
Third, AI can optimize the use of fundraising resources.
On the other hand, the use of AI also needs to raise discourse on ethical aspects such as the use of images/video that manipulate emotions, disrespect for donor preferences and wishes, violation of privacy and unauthorized use of donor data, as well as transparency and accountability issues.
One philanthropic institution, Rumah Zakat, experienced four benefits of AI technology in running fundraising activities, namely personalization and donor matching, donor prediction models and automated donor stewardship flows, philanthropy advising, and online fundraising campaigns.
“Rumah Zakat also has a fundraising information system that involves AI, which is very helpful in accelerating the presentation of data and daily reports,” said CEO of Rumah Zakat, Irvan Nugraha.
