JABAR EKSPRES – The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (KemenKopUKM) received full appreciation and support from Commission VI of the House of Representatives (DPR) to carry out priority and strategic programs by approving the proposed increase in the 2024 budget ceiling to around Rp3 trillion from the previous Rp1.497 trillion.
“MSMEs have a significant role in the national economy by contributing 61.9 percent of GDP. The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs needs to receive full support to develop the national MSME sector,” Deputy Chairman of Commission VI Martin Manurung said during a working meeting with Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Teten Masduki at the House of Representatives Building, Jakarta, Thursday.
Commission VI of the House of Representatives also appreciated the performance achievements of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, which in fiscal year 2022 was able to realize a budget of up to 94.17 percent. Commission VI of the House of Representatives also encouraged KemenKopUKM to improve its performance and budget absorption in 2023.
Meanwhile, a member of Commission VI, Budi Setiawan, said that the KemenKopUKM budget is still relatively small because it has to take care of and empower more than 64.2 million MSME players.
“There are many affairs, but the budget is small, many MSMEs have not felt the convenience, guidance, and facilitation of the KemenKopUKM,” said Budi.
With the characteristics of MSMEs that are heterogeneous and represent the local wisdom of each region, Budi suggested that KemenKopUKM needs to strengthen and sharpen collaboration programs with other ministries.
“In order for the community to feel the presence of KemenKopUKM, we need programs that can attract participation and collaboration from other parties,” said Budi.
