JABAR EKSPRES – More than 200 people died and hundreds were injured after three train collision in Odisha, India, Friday (2/6).

Two passenger trains and a freight train collided in the eastern city of Odisha, India. About 233 people were declared dead and 900 injured in the incident.

The death toll is expected to continue to increase due to the train collision in India. At the same time, the entire Odisha police and medical team carried out a large number of rescue operations.

Authorities have deployed more than 115 ambulances and several fire engines in Friday’s rescue efforts.

Indian Chief Secretary of State Pradeep Jena mentioned that around 500 units of blood donations had been collected overnight with 900 units available in stock.

“This will help aid the victims of current events. I personally feel indebted and grateful to all the volunteers who donated their blood for a noble cause,” he wrote on Twitter.

The cause of this accident is still under investigation. Pradeep emphasized that currently they are still focusing on the ongoing rescue operation.

“We are working on sending additional doctors, ambulances, buses, all the things that we are currently doing so we haven’t had time to think about what happened, or how it happened,” he added.

The collision between the two trains in India occurred after one passenger train car collided with another derailed passenger car that had been thrown onto the opposite track. Both trains detached from the track.

“At around 7pm, 12841 Coromandel Express, which runs between Shalimar and Chennai, in the vicinity of Balasore, 10 to 12 coaches derailed and were thrown onto the opposite track. After some time, another train, which was running between Yesvantpur and Howrah, hit the derailed carriage, causing three to four carriages to derail,” railway spokesman Amitabh Sharma told local reporters.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his distress regarding the incident.
