JABAR EKSPRES – AS Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini insists his team will give everything in the UEFA Europa League (UEL) final against Sevilla at the Puskas Arena, Thursday (1/6) at 02.00 WIB.
Pellegrini said, his team will give everything like when they won the UEFA Conference League (UECL) last season.
“As we have shown, we gave everything in the Conference League and winning it felt great. This year, we have given everything in the Europa League and we really want to win it,
” Pellegrini said in his press conference ahead of the UEL final, reported through the official AS Roma website, (5/31)
The Italian footballer revealed, the habit of giving everything in the final match has been taught by coach Jose Mourinho.
Meanwhile, the final at the Puskas Arena will be the second consecutive inter-club tournament final “The Special One” while coaching the Giallorossi.
“That’s how we are programmed, and it’s also thanks to the coach, who is very attentive both in terms of football and personally, trying to encourage you to give everything,” Pellegrini said.
Roma’s journey in the Europa League began when the Capital Wolf team finished sixth in the final standings of Serie A 2021/2022. Entering the group stage, they joined Group C and qualified for the last 16 play-offs as runners-up with a collection of 10 points (3W, 1D, 2L).
In that round, Roma beat Red Bull Salzburg 2-1 on aggregate and qualified for the round of 16 to challenge Spanish representatives Real Socieded. In the round of 16, Roma won 2-0 on aggregate from Socieded and their journey continued into the quarterfinals. In the last eight, Roma eliminated Feyenoord 4-2 on aggregate.
Roma then entered the semifinals and made it through to the final by eliminating Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 on aggregate.
“As a result, I believe this final will be the culmination of this challenging yet beautiful journey. We can’t wait to play tomorrow,” said Pellegrini with enthusiasm for his second consecutive final with Roma.
