Apri/Fadia Win Easily in Opening Round of Thailand Open 2023

JABAR EKPSRES – Women’s doubles Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti chalked up an easy win in the first round of the Thailand Open 2023 by recording a score of two games directly in 30 minutes, Wednesday.

The second seeded pair won with a score 21-11, 21-12 over the Julie Macpherson / Ciara Torrance pair from Scotland.

“Thankfully the first match went well. Earlier we took to the field still a lot of trial and error, the wind, and most importantly the character of the shuttlecock,” Apri said through the official PP PBSI message in Jakarta.

In the match, Apri / Fadia also kept reminding the coach not to be too confident. Therefore Apri / Fadia continue to maintain their strokes so that they still make it difficult for their opponents, but also feel comfortable by them.

Apri said that the court and shuttlecock conditions in Bangkok were very different from the Malaysia Masters last week. They were also required to adapt quickly, especially in their mindset.

“Because actually we have been trained with any conditions, prepared according to what happens on the field. It’s just a matter of thinking about how to apply it,” said Apri.

Meanwhile, Fadia said that today’s match was more about trying out shots and game patterns. They also lost points because they were not ready to anticipate the opponent’s counterattack.

After the Thailand Open, Apri / Fadia still have a long way to go to complete the Southeast Asian tour which still leaves the Singapore Open (Super 750) and Indonesia Open (Super 1000).

Therefore Apri / Fadia not only try to maintain mental, but also physical abilities so as not to drop too much in the next tournament.

In order not to become a burden, Fadia tries to think positively and considers the tournament she is in as an exercise at Pelatnas PBSI Cipayung.
