JABAR EKSPRES –Lewis Hamilton said he was satisfied with the performance of the updated Mercedes W14 race car that he drove in the Monaco Grand Prix practice session (FP).
He described the car as showing good performance and was able to make him feel happy when driving it.
This also made the seven-time world champion appear dominant at the start of FP1, by being the owner of the fastest time at the start to eventually finish third in the session. In the second session, Hamilton finished sixth.
“I generally had a great day. I really enjoyed driving the (W14) today. I want to say a big thank you to everyone at the factory,” Hamilton said, quoted from the official Formula 1 website, Saturday (5/27).

“Building, designing and developing a car is not an easy thing. Everyone has put in so much time, so many hours of hard work, to get us here today. I’m glad we can defend it for them and I think we get a lot of data,” he added.
Furthermore, Hamilton said the Monaco Circuit was not the right place to test the improvement, however, the car in general felt better than before.
“I really feel the improvement and I’m grateful for that. I have to keep seeing if we can ‘squeeze’ more potential out of this car,” he said.
When asked if there was one specific area on the car that he saw the most improvement with the new update, Hamilton replied that there was, but was reluctant to say more details.
“But there is (improvement), and it is very clear where my performance is lacking. We will talk about it in the debriefing. We’ll put our heads together and try to figure out how we can do it within what we have. But, hopefully, it gives us a platform to move forward,” he said.
