JABAR EKSPRES – Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources of FISIP Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Nurhadi Susanto, assessed that the victory of the Indonesian U-22 national team in the 2023 SEA Games was influenced by the high winning mentality of the players.
According to Nurhadi, in a written statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday (5/17), the winning mentality possessed by the national team is part of the successful transformation in the PSSI body carried out by the Chairman of PSSI, Erick Thohir.
“The high winning mentality of the Indonesian national team is part of the successful transformation carried out by Erick in PSSI,” he said.

Furthermore, Nurhadi said that the PSSI management in the previous period had made a good foundation in an effort to transform PSSI for the better and this was continued by Erick.
Even so, he considered, the approach related to the transformation of PSSI was carried out differently by Erick. Erick, who has a background as the owner of a large soccer club, said Nurhadi, has a different approach from the previous board, such as presenting the spirit of sportsmanship in PSSI.
“In sports, the spirit of sportsmanship is universal. This spirit is applied by Erick in PSSI. All this time, athletes and coaches who excel are often applied in inappropriate positions. Erick seems to know exactly how to put athletes and coaches who excel in their true position so that currently the support for Garuda Muda’s achievements is highly anticipated,” Nurhadi explained.
The winning mentality or high fighting mentality shown by the Indonesian U-22 national team, according to him, can also be applied by all BUMN personnel. Thus, there will be more SOEs that have good performance.
The Indonesian U-22 national team ended a 32-year wait for a gold medal from the soccer sport, thanks to a 5-2 victory over Thailand in the final match played at the National Stadium, Phnom Penh, Tuesday (5/16) night.
