In the ASEAN Summit side event, the YTC representatives exchanged ideas on how the role of young people to advance Southeast Asia, especially in the use of digital technology.
They were also given the opportunity to plant trees as a form of realization of the green economy in Southeast Asia.
In a meeting with the Secretary General of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), Siti Rozaimeriyanty Dato Haji Abdul Rahman, earlier, Puan expressed her support for the YTC.
According to her, the YTC, which is under the auspices of AIPA, can advance the quality of the younger generation regarding the use of digital technology.
“This committee will accommodate the active participation of young people in ASEAN development. The goal is to gather ideas, opinions and aspirations from young people who are future leaders,” Puan said.
Puan also emphasized the importance of youth participation in Southeast Asia in every resolution that will be initiated by the Youth Standing Committee. She encouraged the committee’s ideas to be adopted at the 44th AIPA General Assembly to be held on August 5-10, 2023 in Jakarta.
