JABAR EKSPRES — Red Bull racer, Max Verstappen, said he had no long-term targets in Formula 1 by saying he was “not interested” in collecting a record world title.
Quoted from the official F1 website, Friday (28/4), the Dutch racer said he was satisfied with his achievements so far.
“I’m not interested in winning seven or eight titles. If we have the car to do it, then, yes, great. But even if it doesn’t (happen), I’m happy. I’m even happy (with my achievements so far), so it’s okay!” said Verstappen.
Verstappen made his F1 debut in 2015 at the age of 17 and has racked up 37 wins, 22 pole positions, 80 podiums and two world titles to date. This year, he and the team are looking to defend their title as evidenced by their impressive start to the season.

The contract extension he recently signed will keep Verstappen at Red Bull at least until the end of 2028, when he will be 30 years old. Red Bull Team boss Christian Horner has even predicted that Verstappen will not become “Fernando Alonso” by continuing to race into his 40s.
One possibility that will be proposed to Verstappen is a break or sabbatical from F1, the same choice by Alonso a few years ago.
“It’s hard to say when we never take a break, right? I will always be on the grid until the end of 2028. I am still very young, but I always say that I also want to take part in other competitions like Fernando (Alonso) did,” he said.
According to him, although rest is considered very important, having a competitive spirit is equally important. He said he was quite interested in trying to race in other events or classes outside Formula 1.
“I think everyone is a little different. It also depends a bit on what we want from life. Some people like racing and that’s the only thing they know or want to do. I’m probably a bit more in the middle. I do like racing, but I also want other types of racing,” Verstappen said.
