JABAR EKSPRES — Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan made phone calls with two warring military leaders in Sudan to emphasize the importance of protecting Turkish citizens and institutions amid the conflict in the country.
According to a statement by the Directorate of Communications, on Thursday (20/4), Erdogan made separate phone calls with the Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fettah al-Burhan, and the Deputy Chairman and leader of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo.
During the phone talks, President Erdogan said Turkey is paying close attention to the developments in the situation in Sudan and affirmed Ankara’s sincere support for the transition process in Sudan from the beginning.

Erdogan said recent events have undermined the struggle underway since 2018 and jeopardized the achievements of the transition period.
He called on the parties to end the conflict and bloodshed and return to the dialog table.
Erdogan also called on Sudan to take the necessary steps to ensure the unity of society and resolve issues with common sense and an open mind.
Erdogan further said Turkey will continue to support Sudan and its people in the transition process and is ready to provide all kinds of support, including hosting possible mediation initiatives.
He also emphasized that appropriate measures should be taken to ensure the safe use of Khartoum Airport to ensure the transportation of Turkish citizens back to their homeland and open humanitarian aid corridors.
